Short game in 4 simple steps
Hey Guys, I hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather we are getting! Today I am going go teach you how to DRASTICALLY improve your shortgame and become a great pitcher of the ball.
Looking at the video below, we can see that I have seen many different kinds of set up positions over the years and typically these positions lead to faults/flaws in the swing. Think about it, you wouldn't build a house on poor foundations so why have poor foundations for your swing?!
As seen in the video the correct set up is, in short;
1. Narrow stance.
2. Closer than normal stance.
3. Ball slightly left of centre.
4. Distributing your weight 60/40 on the lead side (left side for right-handers, right side for left-handers.)
Combining these set-up factors together it allows us to hit down on the ball at a steeper angle which is required to get the correct strike and also an adequate amount of backspin.
In terms of the swing, I like to see a reduced amount of wrist hinge in the backswing while in the downswing I want to see a great amount of chest and shoulder rotation towards the target while maintaining the Y shape as seen in the video at impact.
By doing these simple steps correctly you can significantly lower your scores and your handicap! Get in touch with me to book your very own shortgame lesson!
